Washington | Popular video-sharing app TikTok and China’s WeChat messaging app could still face a full ban in the US under a new executive order by the Biden administration which, security experts say, Australia should consider following.
Although President Biden revoked last year’s Trump administration order seeking to ban TikTok, WeChat and other Chinese companies on national security grounds, a range of US departments have been asked to look at “additional executive and legislative actions to address the risk associated with connected software applications”.
