Swindon. Stockport. Rochdale. At first, it is difficult to see how this collection of urban English neighbourhoods could possibly be battlegrounds in the fight against one of the most serious geopolitical threats facing the world.
Last Saturday, however, armed police raided addresses in all of these locations plus others in west London and Manchester, arresting five men, four of whom were Iranian, on suspicion of plotting an atrocity that was just hours away from execution.
