A combat photographer driven by guilt, not ego
The fall of Kabul provided Australian Andrew Quilty with the most terrifying experience of his life, which he has laid out in a new book of photographs from seven years of reporting from Afghanistan.

ndrew Quilty almost died for a carpet. In 2018, the combat photographer rode his low-rider black motorcycle to a carpet seller in a fancy suburb of Kabul. A few minutes after he arrived, a large bomb exploded nearby, inside a fake ambulance.
