What to watch at Paris 2024 day three

After an exciting and emotional day two at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, there’s another packed schedule of Australians ready to compete in day three.

Here is a summary of the top events to watch on Monday night and (if you’re dedicated) Tuesday morning in AEST time.

6pm- The first Australians to look out for are the men’s kookaburras, who will take on Ireland for their pool B preliminary. The side has been on the podium ten times from sixteen appearances but only have one gold medal.

7pm- There’s more swimming action ahead with three races featuring Australians in the evening. Look out for Ella Ramsay and Jenna Forrester in the 400m individual medley, followed by Kaylee McKeown and Iona Anderson in the 100m backstroke and then Sam Short and Elijah Winnington in the 800m freestyle.

7pm- The Opals will take on Nigeria in the women’s basketball group B match. They’ve won five medals before but have never taken home gold.

10.30pm- Australia’s rugby sevens will take on Ireland in their second group B match after a stunning 36-5 win against Great Britain. The Australian side won gold in 2016 but lost in the quarter-finals at Tokyo 2020.

4.30am to 5.10am- Swimming is back in the early hours. The first event is the Women’s 400m individual medley final at 4.30am, followed by the Men’s 200m freestyle final and the women’s 100m backstroke semi-finals, which should all include Australians.

5.22am to 6am- Other races to watch are the men’s 100m backstroke final and the women’s 100m breaststroke final. Perhaps the most engaging race will be the women’s 200m freestyle final at 5.48am, that will see rivals Ariarne Titmus and Mollie O’Callaghan both go for gold.
