2024 broke a 120-year election record that is terrible news for Labor
The billions who voted in 2024 sent an angry message to incumbent governments and warmed to populists, particularly on the right.
It was heralded as the year of democracy. With more than 1.5 billion ballots cast in elections across 73 countries, 2024 offered a rare opportunity to take the social and political temperature of almost half the world’s population.
