Mary of Hobart to become queen of Denmark
Stockholm | Former Tasmanian law student and real estate agent Mary Donaldson will become the Queen of Denmark on January 14 after the surprise abdication of the Danish throne by Queen Margrethe II, Europe’s longest-reigning living monarch.
Queen Margrethe announced Sunday that she plans to abdicate after 52 years and hand over the throne to her son, Crown Prince Frederik, who will become known as King Frederik X. Mary will take the title of Queen.
