Labor wants quotas for women on sports boards

The country’s peak sporting organisations would be forced to set aside a set number of board positions for women in exchange for funding under plans being developed by the Albanese government and the states.

Sports Minister Anika Wells, who is travelling to Paris for the Olympic Games, is expected to announce the changes – which will apply to the 65 sports funded by the Australian Sports Commission – alongside her state counterparts, who she will meet in France, later this year.
