Alex de Minaur withdraws from Olympics men’s singles, will play men’s doubles
Alex de Minaur has withdrawn from the men’s singles competition at Paris 2024.
De Minaur has been rehabilitating a hip injury he sustained during the fourth round at Wimbledon. He has tried to do everything possible to get himself ready to play singles at the Olympics.
His first-round match was scheduled for Sunday 28 July against Jan-Lennard Struff of Germany.
He will prioritise men’s doubles alongside his childhood friend, Alexei Popyrin. De Minaur and Popyrin face No.4 seeds Austin Krajicek and Rajeev Ram in their first match.
