Yang appeals to PM to intensify push to free him from Chinese prison

Tokyo | Jailed Australian citizen and democracy advocate Dr Yang Hengjun has appealed to Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to bring him home from China, hoping his re-elected government can now focus on getting him back to Australia for urgent medical care.

Yang is a Chinese-born Australian citizen who was detained in 2019 on espionage charges and sentenced to death, with a two-year reprieve. He has waived his right to appeal and now seeks medical parole or transfer on humanitarian grounds.
