Jailed Australian citizen and democracy advocate Yang Hengjun has formally waived his right to appeal a shock death sentence in China, begging authorities for release on medical parole or for safe transfer home.
Dr Yang’s supporters released a letter on Wednesday saying there was no way the Chinese legal system could remedy his unjust conviction and sentence on espionage charges, which was revealed earlier this month after a closed-door trial.
