Singapore/Jakarta | The Myanmar military late on Tuesday had still refused to sign off on the appointment of a special envoy selected by south-east Asia’s top diplomats to hold the ruling junta to its promise of an end to political violence in the strife-torn country.

Foreign ministers representing nine of the 10 countries that make up the Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN) agreed to appoint Brunei Second Foreign Minister Erywan Yusof as special envoy to Myanmar.
