Malaysia doubles down on Lynas ban
The Malaysian government has defended its decision to shut down key processing by ASX-listed Lynas Rare Earths, staring down protests from the company and Australia, where the Albanese government has swung behind Lynas.
This week’s decision by Malaysia to reject an application from Lynas to continue cracking and leaching at its Gebeng plant comes at a crucial time for the company, which is racing to complete an alternative plant at Kalgoorlie in Western Australia.
