Tokyo | Japan has bid farewell to former leader Shinzo Abe in a lavish state funeral that was attended by dozens of world leaders but which also became a lightning rod for public anger over his legacy defence policies and links to a religious movement.
Anthony Albanese, who was joined by three former Australian prime ministers, praised Abe’s diplomatic achievements and promised to uphold his vision for a free and open Indo-Pacific region as the Australian contingent met with Japan’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida in Tokyo on Tuesday.
