Shanghai | Wang Jian had never heard of coronavirus when his father came down with a fever in the second week of January.
It was winter in the central Chinese city of Wuhan and colds were common. Wang, a sales rep for a medical equipment company, made sure his 80-year-old father was resting in bed and went off to work.
