Tokyo | Xi Jinping celebrated the 10th birthday of his signature, foreign policy project, a $1.5 trillion infrastructure behemoth known as Belt and Road, with a party in Beijing this week.

Russia President Vladimir Putin, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Indonesian President Joko Widodo were among the world leaders who came for the lavish banquet at the Great Hall of the People ahead of a two-day forum celebrating China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
