One of Indonesia’s most respected diplomats says the country has wasted opportunities to manage US-China rivalry and lead its neighbours. That could change.
Jakarta | In the 10 years he has been president of Indonesia, Joko Widodo has not visited the United Nations headquarters.
This is unusual for a head of state. Most squeeze in at least one stopover in New York during the annual UN Leaders Week. It is not, however, at all out of character for the President, usually known as Jokowi, who has a very transactional view of foreign policy.
