D. D. Saxena creates first Indian-Chinese joint venture in Australia

The first Indian-Chinese manufacturing joint venture in Australia has triumphed over planning obstacles to chart a new path for agribusiness and domestic food processing.

When D. D. Saxena took his plans for the biggest greenfields investment in ­Australian agribusiness for several years to domestic investors and lenders he was greeted with a common response: if it’s so good why hasn’t someone else done it?

Today, he runs a $150 million-plus state-of-the art integrated oil seed crushing and refining plant in the NSW city of Wagga Wagga which has swiftly become the second or third player in the industries – but with no local money apart from the Indian-born engineer’s own seed capital.
