Chinese people back trade sanctions, overseas military bases: study

People in China support the establishment of military bases overseas, believe the Asian superpower should be more proactive internationally and hold strongly negative views towards to the United States, according to a new study by President Xi Jinping’s alma mater, Tsinghua University.

The report, titled China Unfiltered, polled more than 2660 adults in mainland China. It found that more people feared future pandemics, conflict in Taiwan and US-China tension than climate change or the prospect of an international financial crisis.
