Woolworths has partial win in union blockade leaving shelves bare
Woolworths has won orders to stop warehouse workers blocking the reopening a major distribution centre, a victory that could dent an indefinite union strike that has left shelves bare across Melbourne and cost the retail giant more than $50 million.
Fair Work Commission deputy president Gerard Boyce handed down the novel decision late on Friday that the United Workers Union was breaching good faith bargaining laws by having protestors unlawfully picket outside the Dandenong centre and potentially blocking non-striking workers.
