Unions will campaign for a total ban on post-employment restraints, regardless of pay, and seek rights for casual, part-time and gig workers to work at competing firms during their employment.

ACTU assistant secretary Joseph Mitchell said the spread of non-competes had gone “completely haywire” and a recent ban in the United States meant the Albanese government can take “really bold action” on the issue.
