Setka’s ‘obnoxious and rude’ CFMEU fined for wet wipes blockade

The Federal Court has fined John Setka’s CFMEU $109,000 for blocking concrete pours at a Victorian state government project because the truck drivers did not have wet wipes to prevent COVID-19.
Justice John Snaden said the construction union’s behaviour at the $523 million Mordialloc Freeway project – part of Victoria’s Big Build – was emblematic of the coercion that had “plagued” the industry for decades.
