The exiled CFMEU leadership is planning more mass walkouts of construction workers to protest against the Albanese government’s administration, as rebel blue-collar unions threaten to fund independent candidates to challenge Labor at the next federal election.

A meeting of 23 officials from the National Building Industry Group, which represents building unions, resolved on Wednesday to set up a Trade Unions for Democracy Summit on December 9 and hold a mass rally the next day to coincide with a High Court challenge to the CFMEU administration.
