Senior CFMEU officials taken to court over Big Build ‘threats’

Two senior CFMEU officials have been taken to court for seeking to black ban an Indigenous firm from the Allan government’s major construction projects, marking the watchdog’s first action in response to union intimidation on state government sites.

The Fair Work Ombudsman launched Federal Court action this week against the CFMEU and still-employed organisers Joel Shackleton and Gerry McCrudden for allegedly threatening and abusing owners of labour hire firm Marda Dandhi in an attempt to block the firm from Big Build projects.
