Burke and crossbench near deal on right to disconnect, casuals
The Senate crossbench has reached a tentative deal with Labor on most of its workplace changes, including casual conversion rights and a right to disconnect after ditching fines for bosses who contact workers out of hours.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Workplace Relations Minister Tony Burke and key senators David Pocock and Jacqui Lambie were still apart over laws to set minimum pay and conditions for gig workers, with the crossbenchers pushing to limit platform coverage and explicitly prohibit certain conditions.
