ANU budget cuts mean fewer courses and crowded tutorials
Australian National University students arriving for semester one next week may find fewer courses on offer, crowded tutorials and reduced assessments as faculties grapple with cost cuts, including a two-thirds reduction in the casual teaching budget in one popular humanities school.
The changes are due to a sweeping restructuring proposed by under-pressure vice-chancellor Genevieve Bell to cut $250 million in annual spending and put the university on a more sustainable financial footing.
