ASIC gives proxy firms all-clear after 'less tumultuous' AGM season

Proxy advisors have been given the all-clear by the corporate regulator in the wake of the annual company meeting season, despite a push by business groups for stronger regulation and oversight.

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission report on AGM season released on Monday warns that individual directors are coming under greater fire from investors and has cautioned chairmen against flouting the rules on shareholder voting to wave through executive bonuses.
