Aussies aren’t all Bondi Beach fit, Ozempic’s new local exec has just realised
In his first wide-ranging interview, Novo Nordisk Oceania managing director Cem Ozenc mourns the fact that Australia’s obesity challenge is lost amid the celebrity hype surrounding the medication.
When Cem Ozenc moved to Sydney in 2022 to run the local operation of Ozempic manufacturer Novo Nordisk, he assumed he was coming to live alongside a nation of fit, healthy people living their best outdoor, active lives.
“I always thought about [Australia in terms of] Olympians, an amazing sporting country, very conscious about health. In my mind was Bondi [Beach]. Everyone is a runner. Everyone is healthy. Everyone is very fit,” Turkish-born Ozenc says.
