When Cem Ozenc moved to Sydney in 2022 to run the local operation of Ozempic manufacturer Novo Nordisk, he assumed he was coming to live alongside a nation of fit, healthy people living their best outdoor, active lives.

“I always thought about [Australia in terms of] Olympians, an amazing sporting country, very conscious about health. In my mind was Bondi [Beach]. Everyone is a runner. Everyone is healthy. Everyone is very fit,” Turkish-born Ozenc says.
