The bank chief executive believes slick software is a tool to help human bankers better support customers, not as an end in itself.
The titles of the banking analyst reports on National Australia Bank’s first-half profits last week captured its remarkable transformation under chief executive Ross McEwan.
“Humming along nicely and well positioned for rising rates,” declared JPMorgan. “Strong franchise momentum looks set to continue,” wrote Goldman Sachs. Morgan Stanley titled its report “Building a track record”, while Macquarie asked: “What’s not to like?”
