'Before you go to bed, tell the right person': advice to CEOs

Senior business leaders who start a close personal relationship with a colleague must disclose it immediately to avoid damaging staff morale and potentially punching a hole in company profits, directors and governance experts say.

AGL Energy director Diane Smith-Gander went further, arguing that senior leadership team members, including the chief executive, should be banned from having intimate relationships with fellow employees because, almost by definition, there was a power imbalance.
