The reaction when another all-boys school – Newington College in Sydney’s inner west this time – called time and announced its decision to become coeducational has been, well, borderline hysterical.

Hundreds of column centimetres and talk-back hours have been devoted to the issue, just as it was last year when Cranbrook in Sydney’s east announced its decision to let girls through the front door.
