As governments turn to infrastructure spending to revive the flagging economy, Edith Cowan University in Perth has announced a $695 million joint venture with the federal and state governments to build a campus in the city centre.

The Creative Industries Business and Technology campus will be located next to Yagan Square, just north of the CBD. Once complete, it will house 9000 students and staff, the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, the WA Screen Academy and the business, law and technology schools of the university.
