Universities warn against ‘witch-hunt’ governance inquiry
Universities have warned Labor against a “witch-hunt” inquiry into governance or “knee-jerk” regulatory responses, rejecting union claims that they have run off the rails.
The new inquiry will be established as soon as Wednesday with proposed terms of reference to focus on financial management including vice-chancellors’ pay, alleged conflicts of interest, spending on consultants and underpayments in the sector.
