The universities of Adelaide and South Australia have formally merged to create the nation’s fifth-largest by number of students, with teaching at the combined entity to begin in 2026.
The tie-up to create Adelaide University is understood to be the largest university merger in the world and forms part of South Australia’s long-held ambition to be a global education destination.
