The number of Australian students studying for a bachelor’s degree has fallen more than 13 per cent since 2016, new data reveals, as rising student debt and the booming jobs market turn young people off higher education.
The decline in enrolments suggests that federal Education Minister Jason Clare’s ambitious government targets for 55 per cent of young people to have a bachelor’s degree by 2050 will never be reached.
