Breaking the long-established link between qualifications and industrial awards and making it easier to create courses that relate to new technologies has become the mantra of the training sector – which is hoping COVID-19 is the spur to major reform.

On Friday the government released a review of the Australian Skills Quality Authority which insiders said had the potential to make skills training more in line with what employers want.
