Bosses enforce exit clauses to ‘stop the bleeding’
Australian businesses are tightening the screws on executives who quit, strictly enforcing the non-compete clauses and gardening leave policies in their contracts to keep workers on the bench for months and discourage others from jumping ship.
Transearch managing director Bill Sakellaris said companies are less willing to negotiate the terms of an executive’s departure thanks to the shortage of senior talent, which has driven demand for managerial jobs to a three-year high.
