The expected massive turnaround in the 2023 budget outcome creates some interesting dilemmas.

First, it will challenge the Treasurer’s political spin in his budget address that Labor is a superior economic manager to the previous Coalition government. Second, it will challenge his capacity to claim a “looming budget crisis” and echo former Treasurer Joe Hockey’s long forgotten 2014 claim.
