As more Australians head abroad, financial advisers are urging them to organise their finances or risk “heartbreak” when they come home.
Carly Waterman moved to the US in 2019 for a work opportunity that was simply “too good to pass up”. The global operations director at a sports tech and media company stayed until mid-2020 before moving back to Australia over COVID-19, and then again over to LA at the beginning of 2023.
“[It’s] great exposure to new people, technologies, and different and bigger ways of thinking,” says Waterman, 36.
