Australia’s 75 richest women now control a record $179b

Tech, mining and a booming beauty sector helped fuel a 19 per cent surge in fortunes in the past year, as 11 new faces made the list.

The fortunes of Australia’s 75 richest women surged 19 per cent in the past 12 months to a record high of more than $179 billion, driven by the technology sector’s comeback, resilient miners and booming beauty businesses.

Iron ore magnate Gina Rinehart topped the Financial Review Rich Women List with an estimated $39.9 billion fortune, and there were 11 new faces among the rankings. Rinehart has taken out the top spot on the list every year since it was first published in 2021.
