What to do (and not to do) if your business is hacked
Businesses have been warned not to try to "hack back" if they fall victim to a cyber-attack, or to waste time trying to attribute the attack, and instead focus on discovering the motive and building resilience.
Addressing a virtual panel as part of The Australian Financial Review's Future Briefings series, CEO of the Australian National University's Cyber Institute, Professor Lesley Seebeck, said in the instance of a cyber breach, companies were best advised to find ways of making themselves more resilient, even if an attack stemmed from an offshore competitor or foreign government.
