Tame Impala frontman Kevin Parker and supermodel turned entrepreneur and philanthropist Karlie Kloss are among the high-profile backers investing in Perth-based climate tech start-up Uluu, which has figured out how to turn seaweed into a replacement for plastic.
Founded by Julia Reisser, an expat Brazilian marine scientist, and Michael Kingsbury, a former M&A lawyer, Uluu has closed an $8 million seed round led by its existing deep tech investor Main Sequence, the CSIRO’s venture capital arm, with participation from Albert Impact Ventures, Mistletoe and Possible Ventures.
