As the head of a company that has just suffered the first year of its life as a listed company amid the drama of the global financial crisis and worn a few bruises as a result, Tony Kinnane is remarkably chipper about the growth prospects of mining technology company Runge.

Kinnane has been managing director of the 32-year old company since 1991 and says that while the first year of its life on the Australian Stock Exchange has presented some new challenges, it has left him more convinced than ever that it can become a "600-pound gorilla" in the global market.
