No Minister Jones. Big is good for consumers in the digital economy

The default idea that new regulation should aim at reducing the market shares of tech companies is old economy thinking.

As this government escalates its war with technology companies, it has proposed handing the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission a grab bag of sweeping powers to regulate platforms.

And while there are a couple of good ideas in the bag, there are some very bad ones, too. Overall, there’s the potential to create a lot more harm than good.
