Labor’s throwing six cybersecurity shields around Australia
Co-ordinated national action to make the whole more protective than the sum of the parts is the best defence against digital attacks.
Clare O'NeilMinisterAlmost a year ago today, Optus revealed that the personal data of more than 9 million of its customers had been stolen. It was, at the time, the biggest cyberattack in Australian history.
Yet it was superseded just three weeks later by Medibank. This attack affected a smaller number of Australians, but it was particularly vicious because extremely sensitive health data of our citizens was dumped on the dark web.
