Federal Court Justice Jonathan Beach hadn’t even got to the scary stuff yet, when he said he would have already given up trying to install an app on an Android phone without using Google’s Play Store.

On the second day of a landmark lawsuit in which Epic Games has accused Google of illegally using “technical restrictions” on its Android phones to stifle competition, the Federal Court judge was being taken through the “friction” users face if they try to download and install Epic’s popular game Fortnite from Epic’s website rather than the Play Store.
