IT bungle keeps MPs’ expenses unknown for two years

Federal MPs’ expense reports will not be released on schedule for up to two years because of a bungled attempt by the public service to upgrade the system used to report their travel, office and communications costs.

The most recent expense reports date from July 2022, and a backlog caused by the technology chaos is not expected to be resolved before the middle of next year.
