How Kim Teo pulled off a mega-merger with her start-up’s biggest rival

Mr Yum co-founder Kim Teo said her start-up is now more likely to succeed globally, and be a more attractive proposition for investors, after it executed a merger with its major rival me&u that saw the restaurant QR code ordering apps consolidate under the latter’s brand.

After previously running Mr Yum, Ms Teo is now chief executive of the combined entity. She said the post-merger integration was now largely complete, but that rationalising staff and technology systems had been a significant challenge, as both had similar capabilities.
