Google ‘ghosts’ Aussie staff on promotions as cloud boss quits
The boss of Google’s Australia and New Zealand cloud computing business has resigned, and employees say they have been left in limbo or “ghosted” over regular promotions after the tech giant cut back its budgets.
Alister Dias, Google Cloud’s vice president for Australia and New Zealand, will leave the role after less than three years, as the company continues to struggle in its fight with Amazon Web Services and Microsoft for a slice of the local IT and artificial intelligence market.
