Germans plot $100m Aussie climate tech takeovers

A conglomerate of European clean-tech entrepreneurs, including Porsche Ventures and a founder of Tesla’s European operations, has embarked on a $100 million spending spree to take a lead role in Australia’s move to low-emission households.

The conglomerate, which runs the German solar technology developer and retailer 1komma5°, has bought a controlling stake in Australia’s largest Tesla battery installer, Natural Solar. It also plans to invest up to €65 million ($99.7 million) more in the next 18 months, buying controlling stakes in similar “last mile” clean-tech companies around the nation.
