Godfather of AI stands by extinction warning

The “godfather” of artificial intelligence has stood by his warnings that AI could lead to the extinction of humanity, amid claims Big Tech is whipping up fear to shut down competition.
Geoffrey Hinton, one of three researchers who received the 2018 Turing Award for their work on machine learning, said the fact he quit Google this year so he would be free to talk about AI suggested there was not a Big Tech conspiracy.
